Privacy
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. The contact form is the one place it takes anything from you, and here is exactly what happens to it.
What this site does not do
- No cookies. Northern Dealbook sets none. Nothing is written to your browser's storage either — the light and dark themes follow the preference your operating system already reports, and no choice is recorded.
- No analytics. No Google Analytics, no tag manager, no pixel, no heatmap, no session recording, no visitor counter.
- No third-party requests. No fonts, scripts, images, or widgets loaded from anyone else's server. The typefaces are the ones already on your device. Your browser talks to this site and to nobody else.
- No accounts, and no paywall. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing held back from a reader who does not identify themselves.
- No advertising or tracking networks. Nothing is sold, shared, or brokered, because nothing is gathered.
How that is kept true
By a check that runs before the site can be published, not by a promise. The build gate scans every page of the compiled site for a reference to any outside origin and refuses to deploy if it finds one. A tracking script could not reach this site by accident; someone would have to remove the gate first, and that is a visible act recorded in the project's history.
Server logs
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the requests needed to serve a page, and its own logging is governed by its policies rather than ours. Nothing is layered on top of it, and we do not receive, retain, or review per-visitor information.
The contact form
The form on the contact page asks for your name and email address, and optionally your organization, your state, and a subject. Everything in it is what you chose to type. It is delivered to the firm as an email and is not written to a database, a customer system, or a mailing list — this site has none of those.
As of 2026-09-08 the form is not yet delivering. No email provider is configured, so a submission fails and the page shows you the direct address instead. Nothing is stored in the meantime; the message is simply not sent. This paragraph comes down when delivery is wired up.
There is no newsletter. If one is ever added it will be a deliberate opt-in on its own page, and this policy will change before it launches.
If you write to the firm about a legal matter
Northern Dealbook is published by Madgett Law, LLC, and writing to us — through the form or directly — does not by itself make you a client. An engagement begins when it is agreed in writing, and not before.
What you send while you are exploring that is not, however, unprotected. Under the Minnesota Rules of Professional Conduct a lawyer who has consulted with a prospective client may not use or reveal what they learned, even where no representation follows. So the caution below is not that your message will be treated casually.
It is this: send us the minimum needed to identify who is involved, so we can run a conflicts check first. The same rules can disqualify a firm from a matter once it has received information that could be significantly harmful to the person who sent it. Sending too much, too early, can therefore cost you the lawyer you were trying to hire. Say who the parties are and what the dispute concerns in outline; save the detail for after we confirm we are clear to hear it.
Please do not send confidential, sensitive, or time-critical information through this site. We may already act for someone whose interests are adverse to yours, and we will not know until we have checked. Nothing you send before we confirm in writing that we can act for you should be treated as having been received in confidence for that matter, and no deadline of yours is protected by having written to us. If a limitations period or a filing date is close, speak to a lawyer who is already engaged.
People and firms written about on this site
This is the part of a privacy policy most publications leave out. Northern Dealbook makes factual assertions about identifiable businesses and, sometimes, the people who run them. That information is a matter of public record — chiefly filings those businesses made with the Securities and Exchange Commission, plus their own websites and public announcements. Every entry on the site shows its sources and the date we retrieved them, so you can check our work against the same documents.
Nothing here is compiled from data brokers, purchased lists, or private sources, and no field is estimated. Where a figure was not disclosed, it is left out rather than guessed at.

- Corrections are welcome and are the fastest way to improve the record. Write to [email protected] and we will fix the entry and update its verification date.
- You can ask to be removed, and we do not require a reason. Listing is editorial, free, and cannot be bought; it can also be declined. See Submit or correct an entry.
Children
This site is written for founders, fund managers, and the lawyers who work with them. It is not directed to children and collects nothing from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this site ever adds something that collects information, this page changes first and the version below changes with it.
